Face-Time Lighting in Bath Requires Multiple Lighting Fixtures
Posted by Laura Nelson on August 1, 2009
When remodeling the bathroom, it’s especially important to analyze lighting requirements. A beautifully lit bath is a wonderful place to begin and end your day. Ample lighting for showers, shaving, and applying makeup is needed, as well as other ambient light sources to enhance the room overall.
A classic chandelier may provide enough light for the entire room, but multiple fixtures give a more appealing atmosphere, and result, for applying makeup. The vanity area is the most important lighting area to consider.
To eliminate shadows under the chin, eyes and cheeks, multiple light sources must be installed. Mount light fixtures on either side of the vanity mirror, (or on the mirror’s surface, if it’s large) about 36-40″ apart. The center of each fixture should be roughly eye level, or about 66″ above the floor, to light the face evenly.
